Welcome to the tranquil hamlet of La Brousse, situated between the Charente
and Dordogne regions of France, just 15 kms. from the city of Angouleme,
two hours from Paris by TGV and 3 kms. from the Angouleme-Perigueux trunk
road.
The hamlet, originally designed to welcome artists, has much to offer
all its visitors. Holidaymakers can enjoy the calm of a stay in our pleasant
rooms surrounded by an area rich in heritage and scenery. La Brousse provides:
- the warmth of a personal welcome;
- a variety of accommodation, from comfortable rooms to a wood cabin;
- cultural and sporting activities, both on-site and nearby;
- work and exhibition spaces; and
- excellent organic food.
Since its opening in 1995, le hameau de La Brousse has put down deep roots
in the region and has become an all-year-round countryside cultural magnet,
attracting artists and nature-lovers alike. Currently a potter, a painter
and a sculptor live and work in the hamlet.
Visitors can try out a variety of cultural and sporting activities. Depending
on the season, your options might include a class in pottery or engraving,
a captivating workshop on mosaics or a longer course in tai chi chuan,
qi jong or choral singing. Our concert room is also the setting for all
kinds of shows and exhibitions.
Le hameau de La Brousse is a very flexible environment, capable of adapting
to a variety of projects, artistic or otherwise. It is a wonderful place
to hold your own workshop, retreat, family reunion or other gathering.
Space is available all year round for individual work (by painters, writers,
photographers etc.) or group activities (rehearsals, workshops, courses)
for actors, dancers and musicians.
The kitchen too can cater to everyone's requirements, from a simple breakfast
to full board, from a vegetarian supper to a celebration dinner. The food
is both hearty and original, with vegetables coming from the organic garden.
The hamlet's facilities include:
- a 150m2 work and concert room;
